Spring hanger bolts almost complete

Just as 4709 was due to move south to Leaky Finders in Exeter, COVID came along and threw everyone’s plans into turmoil. With the loco’s frames still not available, attention has turned to components that are going to be essential as the lockdown is eased and work on building the 47XX can re-start.

First up are a set of spring hanger bolts, which emerged from Leaky Finders’ workshops a few days ago. These are the first on a lengthy list of parts which will maintain progress until 4709 itself can be moved.

The photographs show the semi-completed bolts, prior to cotter slots and split pin holes being cut, finishing them, ready to join a rapidly growing list of components ready for use.
