While work on the real 4709 moves forward, we’ve received many requests for information, photographs, engineering details and hobbyist stories regarding modelling the 47XX.
This is our response. It’s early days and we’ll be producing our own material and hoping to get some regular and meaningful input from our readers, too.
Regular contributor to Model Engineering magazine, John Arrowsmith, wrote a very comprehensive article covering 4709’s cylinder casting(s). The article appeared mid-July and is still available from the magazines Web site. The pages can also be found below.
John also contributed the photograph above to get things moving. It’s a model of 4701, which lives at the Tree Tops Railway in Buckinghamshire.
If you have news, images, or articles to contribute, let me know.
And finally, work on 4709 is now moving into top gear. We need funds - see the link at the bottom of the page for your donations. Thank you.
